The device is a simple volt meter. You can get one at any hardware store or Radio Shack. Just do what the guy in the video did–if you get a signal then the speaker connection is good. If all of your speakers are dead it may well be the radio.

I did everything that you suggested & the right channel speakers still do not work. I checked the connection on the right rear with a volt meter & it tested good. However, hooking up a brand new speaker results in nothing but light “crackling” coming from the speaker. Since the left channel speakers, both front & back work but the right don’t I’m surmising that the radio right channel isn’t working. Is this correct?

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction prior to me stopping off at a car audio shop to get my radio fixed. I have a pioneer DEH-P7900BT with the bluetooth and ipod. I was just out driving listening to my radio and my detachable face plate opened up as if I had hit the eject button. seconds later I lost all power to the radio, it is now stuck in the faceplate open position and dead to the world. I already checked every single fuse in the car.had the radio about 1.5 yrs

I do not have a DMM, any other alternatives?

well even if just one speaker is out it could still be the radio, the radio seperates each speaker so it has capacitors and transistors for each
